About

ńoko is a Gdańsk-based instrumental band that redefines the boundaries of contemporary jazz, bringing it into the territory of club music and electronica. The band focuses on the absolute equivalence of live, acoustic instruments and synthetic sounds, generating a powerful dose of trance, repetition, and physically palpable rhythm.

The band consists of experienced and versatile musicians from the Tri-City area, known from many other acclaimed alternative and jazz projects:

  • Dawid Lipka – trumpet (associated with formations like Zgniłość, Bizarre Penguin, Tymon Tymański).
  • Michał Jan Ciesielski – saxophone, synthesizer, vocals (known from Quantum Trio, Contemporary Noise Sextet, or Michał Jan x Immortal Onion).
  • Maciej Sadowski – double bass, Moog (active in Dead Vistula, LowBow, Gdańsk Necropolitan Orchestra).
  • Tomasz Koper – drums (collaborating with Alfah Femmes, Jazxing Live).

The music of ńoko is born from pure, unrestrained improvisation, treated as a spontaneous creative act free of barriers. Instead of a traditional, academic jazz narrative, the artists emphasize motor skills and an energetic pulse that naturally moves the audience to dance. Their concerts can easily evolve into a full-scale, hypnotic rave. The group’s aesthetic is suspended in a unique universe combining cyberpunk rawness with the darkness and mysticism of Slavic mythology.

Discography:

  • “Aurora” (Debut) – A recording of a spontaneous improvisation session containing 8 cohesive compositions. Inspired by the cosmic spirit of Slavic beliefs, the goddess of dawn, and the chaos of celestial bodies, the album was met with an excellent reception and established the band’s position on the indie scene.
  • “KO” (Released: April 24, 2026) – The second, more radical full-length album released in physical and digital formats. The material deepens their previous direction, bringing rhythm and electronics to the forefront, where improvisation builds the track’s drama at the expense of solo performances. The album also features guest appearances, including vocalist Novika in the hypnotic, cinematic single “Atropine”, and Sviniarski singing about ultimate matters with lightness and distance.
